The York Rose has been introduced to indicate the location of the Station in Yorkshire<\/p>\n<p>Date of Issue: February 1951<\/p>\n<p>Motto: Latin: <em>Qui operit canlum <\/em>\u2013 Who covereth the Heaven<\/p>\n<p>History: Opened July 40 as satellite to Dishforth. Became base Station 1\/3\/43. Stn HQ Close 1972 transferred to Army. re-opened as Alanbrooke barracks 1974. Airfield still live as satellite station to Linton-on-Ouse.<\/p>\n<p><em>Sponsored by Bernard Thompson, Flt Lt (ret\u2019d).
