Air Forces<\/strong><\/p>\n The advent of aviation in the first decade of the 20th Century soon developed into military aviation and\u00a0the rapid development of air arms. Slow, inefficient aircraft, initially used for reconnaissance, soon took on more offensive role as fighters and bombers. For British Military Aviation the Royal Flying Corps, formed in May 1912, became\u00a0an important part of overall military capability.
