History:<\/strong> Formed as Middle East Brigade 1 July 1916 at Cairo, re-designated HQ RAF Middle East 5 October 1917. Became Middle East Air Force 1 June 1949 at Ismalia until 1 March 1961 when it was renamed Near East AF at Akrotiri which disbanded 31 March 1976.<\/p>\n

Sponsored by SAC Brian Firth and dedicated to the Memories of LAC Thomas Boaden, SAC Alan Sciafe and all RAF personnel killed in Cyprus 1955-59.<\/em><\/p>\n
