Link: This Public Relations squadron has chosen for its badge a palm tree in front of two gold quills. The quills are an allusion to the unit’s editorial responsibilities and the palm tree refers to its involvement in the Gulf War.

History: Formed in 1940 as part of the Royal Air Force Volunteer Reserves, following Lord Beaverbrook’s suggestion that the RAF should have a Public Relations unit; following the war a number of these journalists were retained by the RAF based in different units and, following the amalgamation of the RAFVR and Royal Auxiliary Air Force were collected together to form No 7644 (VR) Public Relations Squadron on 5 April 1997 and remains current.
