Blazon: In front of a Sword Argent hilted Or and a Key Or in saltire point and ward spelling CFE uppermost a Terrestrial Globe proper

Link: The unit has included in its badge a sword and key to suggest its functions in perfecting the RAF’s knowledge of the use and equipment of fighter aircraft. The terrestrial globe is introduced to indicate that the results of studies carried out at the Establishment spread out to the RAF and Dominion Forces throughout the world.

History: A nucleus formed at Tangmere on 4 September 1944, although the Central Fighter Establishment officially formed at Wittering on 1 October 1944 and finally disbanded at Binbrook on 1 February 1966
