History: Formed at Northolt on 20 October 1934 as Air Fighting Development Establishment and re-designated Air Fighting Development Unit in July 1940 before becoming Air Fighting Development Squadron within the Central Fighter Establishment on 1 October 1944. Was re-designated Fighter Command Trials Unit on 1 February 1966 which disbanded at West Raynham on 30 June 1967.
