Blazon: On two Kris in saltire a Chinese Junk in full sail all proper.

Link: The junk, based on a model in Raffles hotel, represents the unit’s location whilst the Kris, a traditional Malay weapon shows its fighting spirit.

DoI: The badge is a close copy of that granted to RAF HQ Far East in November 1937.

Motto: Eastward

History: Formed a South East Asia Air Command on 16 November 1943 and changed its title to Air Command South-East Asia on 14 January 1944, before becoming Air Command Far East on 3 September 1946. It was finally re-designated Far East Air Force on 1 June 1949 and disbanded on 1 November 1971.

Commissioned by Laurence M Bean and dedicated to all who served at RAF Station Western Hill and RAF Penang.
