Awarded:

Blazon: A Red Kite proper holding a Lightning Bolt Or in its talons

Link: No. 606 Squadron works in support of the Joint Helicopter Command; the lightning bolt in the talons of the Red Kite reflects the squadron’s command lineage. The Red Kite was chosen as it was successfully re-introduced into the Chilterns in the 1990s after an absence of more than 100 years. The majestic soaring ability of the Red Kite is linked to the flying capabilities of the aircraft supported by the unit.

Motto: Steadfast in support

History: Formed as Helicopter Support Squadron RAuxAF on 1 October 1996, redesignated No. 606 (Chilterns) Squadron on 1 October 1999. Remains current.
