Blazon: A Cobra Or entwining two Gun Barrels in saltire proper

Link: This unit is equipped with Beaufighter aircraft which carry two cannons as their essential armament. The Beaufighter is regarded as a comparatively silent aircraft and the cobra in the design not only suggests this silence, but has reference to the formation at Amarda Road, India

Motto: Latin: Silenter in medias res – Silently into the midst of things

History: Formed at Amarda Road, India on 28 November 1942 but its personnel were still in transit from the UK and did not assemble until 11 January 1943. It disbanded at Hathazari on 5 July 1945

Sponsored by Just Wood and dedicated to all who served with No 177 Squadron

Battle Honours: No Standard
