Link: This unit adopted as its badge a fetterlock to indicate the control it exercises over aircraft whose strength is symbolised by the lion.The lion and fetterlock have local associations as the former appears in the Armorial Bearings of the County of Northampton and the latter in those of the town of Northampton.
