History: Formed at Fossgate, York, on 1 April 1918 and became No 16 (Training) Group on 8 August 1918 before disbanding on 7 February 1920. It re-formed on 1 December 1936 as No. 16 (Reconnaissance) Group at Lee-on-Solent, becoming No. 16 (General Reconnaissance) Group in 1943, disbanding by being re-designated No. 16 HQ (Unit) No. 16 Wing, Chatham.
