Link: The drongo, a bird native to India and Burma, represents the area where the unit operated. Reputed to be bold and aggressive, it is also protective to other birds nesting in its vicinity.

History: Formed Heliopolis 12 Sept 1916 by renumbering No 1 Sqn Australian Flying Corps, but reverted to its original designation on 6 Feb 1918. Reformed at Kallang, Singapore on 12 March 1941 and disbanded at Bruggen on 31 May 1957.
